Community Christian Church

Mission Statement

To bring young people into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and to grow into His likeness.

 Purpose

To bring young people into a supportive fellowship around Jesus Christ. We reach out to all youth and bring them into this fellowship, which is Jesus-centered. He is the One who fills us with the love and commitment to accept all and every kind of persons into His fellowship. He is the glue that holds us together, as well as keeping us reaching out to others. Adult sponsors aid in this development. We are committed to training our youth in the following areas.

  • Mission trips. Serving others is the teaching of our Leader. These trips accomplish what no other lesson can.

  • We attend several youth conferences throughout the year. Most of these conferences are put on by a Christian organization named Christ-In-Youth, CIY.

    • Our Middle School students, LiveWires,  attend the CIY Superstart Conference.  This conference is specifically designed for 4th-6th grade students with lots of high energy music, games, and other activities.   The students are taught the love of God and his desires for them without them knowing they are learning.

    • Our Jr. High students also attend a CIY conference every spring in St. Louis, MO.  Typically held at St. Charles Family Arena, CIY Jr. High Believe is a weekend of praise and worship filled with music, dance, arts, and messages relevant to Jr. High students.

    • Our High School students attend CIY Summer Conference during the month of July.  This is a week-long event held at various college and university campuses around the country.  Musicians and speakers at these events are some of the best groups and individuals in the country at reaching students with the message of Christ.  This conference is more in depth than others, addressing issues specific to High School Students and young adults.  The schedule of these conferences often allows for other activities such as hiking, rafting, visiting historical sites, etc.

    • Both our Jr. High and High School students attend the Illinois Christian Teen Convention every November in Springfield, IL.  This conference provides a chance for Christian students from across the state to gather together and worship the God they love and serve.  Every year some of the biggest names in contemporary and alternative Christian
music perform on the Friday evening of the convention.  Part of the weekend is also focused toward world missions and ministries such as Invisible Children, aids orphans in Africa, etc.

    • Learn more about these conferences by visiting their websites:
  • During school months we attend Pure Intensity Youth Rallies. These are simply Sunday evenings of worship and fellowship hosted by different churches in the area. They typically consist of silly games, energetic worship, and local speakers.  All the churches that participate attend Southern Illinois Christian Service Camp during the summer.  We typically host one rally a year.

  • Weekly youth meetings are held at 6:00 p.m. on Sundays. These vary in subject matter, meeting places, and activities.

  • During the summer months, our students attend Southern Illinois Christian Service Camp in West Frankfort, IL. Students from Kindergarten through High School each have different weeks of camp designed specifically for their age group.  The church considers camp a mission for our youth, therefore we pay for the registration fee for all campers.  Learn more about the camp atwww.sicsc.com
